“Moldova Is Following Ukraine’s Path”
[Editor’s note: Context — On 8 October, Moldova adopted a national defense strategy aimed at strengthening the country’s integration into the European security and defense architecture, designating Russia as the main threat.]
Elena Panina, from the Russtrat institute (close to the authorities), argues that Moldova is following the path taken by Ukraine: abandoning neutrality in favor of a rapprochement with NATO. Chișinău could, she suggests, seek to reintegrate (sic) the autonomous region of Gagauzia and Transnistria into the Moldovan state.
To defend these “pro-Russian” regions against an aggression carried out by Chișinău with the support of NATO and Kyiv, the author claims that the Russian army must create a land corridor — which would first require “liberating” the Ukrainian regions of Mykolaiv and Odesa.
